(1) Talk With As Many As You Can.
There are tons of real estate agents available to you so make sure you talk to as many as you can to ensure you choose the right person. Put a list together, contact them via phone or email, and make notes on each one after chatting with them.
You should have a list of questions ready to go for each one to make sure you make the most out of your time – as well as theres.
(2) Who Makes You Feel Comfortable?
While talking to each real estate agent, you should make note of what agents you feel comfortable talking with (and ones you don’t). You’ll have to meet with the agent on a regular basis, talk with them on the phone, and you want to make sure you feel comfortable while chatting.
An uncomfortable relationship is not a good way to work with a real estate agent.
(3) Do You Feel Like They Are Trustworthy?
Trust is huge when selling or buying a home. Are they going to tell you everything and provide you with information that helps you? Because that’s a huge part of hiring the right real estate agent and also relates to my previous point.
(4) How Will They Communicate?
There are so many communication methods in 2021 and each professional seems to be using different ones these days. If there’s a quick turnaround on something, are they going to be able to communicate effectively and efficiently? Or are they going to use a method of communication that is not ideal and could result in a missed opportunity?
(5) What Experience Do They Have?
Have they worked as a real estate agent for a long while and have been successful? What is their experience in life that will allow them to provide excellent service? Learning more about their experience might not lead you to make a decision but it’s a good question to ask.
(6) Do They Know The Market?
Every market is different and knowing the market is the best thing a real estate agent can provide you with. Have they lived in the market for a long while? Will they be able to answer your questions about good neighborhoods, school zones, and what areas are increasing in value vs ones that are decreasing?
Ask them questions about the market to know what they are informed on.
(7) Do You Know Anyone Who Has Used Them?
If you can chat with someone who has used them in the past, then you should definitely chat with them about their experience. How did they like working with this particular real estate agent? Would they recommend it?
Even better might be talking with someone who has used a real estate agent and loved their experience. Get them to pass on their name and see if they might be a fit.
(8) Go With Your Gut Instinct.
In the end, there’s no right or wrong reason behind choosing a real estate agent. You don’t know what one you should pick and really have to just go with your gut instinct.
Ask questions, do your research, take your time, and pick the one you feel good about.
